reading week: winter semester edition

most of my midterms are over, so that means it's time for a quick trip back to connecticut! i almost left my passport and citizenship certificate behind (whoops) but don't worry, we got them in the end. and it was good to be home!

of course, the first thing i did was go to a uconn whoc game. we actually left montreal early (i woke up at 6 am - you all should be so proud) just to get there in time, in true superfan fashion.

uconn won, obviously. but it was actually a huge win, because they needed to win both games that weekend to keep themselves in the race for regular season champions. their opponent, boston university, was the other contender for top spot, and they were five points ahead going into the game. that meant that to win, they wouldn't even have to win either of the games against uconn - all they would need would be to take the game to overtime, and that would get them one point and seal the season victory for them. for uconn to win, they needed to win both games in regulation time, something that they struggle with more than i'd like to admit. so basically - one regulation win was huge.

pippin is still a fool - but honestly, if i were a cat, i know i'd be pulling this same exact move, so i can't judge. it looks very peaceful up there, observing the living room from above.

made the trip to boston to go watch uconn play their final regular season game against bu - and they won in regulation again, making them regular season champions! i went with both sisters and my dad, and all four of us did a good amount of screaming at the refs for the entirety of the game - so much so that stella and i somewhat lost our voices. but in our defense, the refs were biased as hell and every single team from boston plays dirty and i hate them (hot take but correct take).

i don't have pictures of this part, but we also stopped by the vintage underground, which is a store that sells vinyl records, vintage clothes (especially sweaters), sports merch, and posters. my dad called it "the most julia store ever", which i think is accurate. i almost got an alanis morisette record, but my dad reminded me that i am unemployed, so i put it back (probably for the best! but shoutout alanis, i love her).

curly bedhead goes CRAZY (and yes, this is stella's mansfield middle school hoodie. i took it from her closet while she was at school, and i have no regrets).

went to gymnastics with lucy! i go at least once every time i'm back in town, which is probably good for me - i'm definitely not as strong as i used to be. i can still do most of my old skills, and even got to do some tumbling this time, which was very cool. but bars is a bit of a struggle - i think my arm strength is definitely getting worse. if i want to be jacked (and i do), i have some work to do.

merry, also a fool. he doesn't appreciate anyone getting too close to him, but sometimes he tolerates me petting him. basically, we're besties.

anyways! i had a psychology midterm right after i got back, which i didn't appreciate, but that's university i suppose. at least i got a quick vacation and two hockey wins before it was straight back to studying for me (something i hate and also am not very good at, it turns out). but we're getting there!
